What To Say When Your Client Asks About Commission

We also have thriving planner and venue partnership programs, which we love to promote here.  Please know that we only share things, people, and places we absolutely believe in and recommend.

This question landed in my inbox a few weeks ago, so I did some digging.  I asked a team of expert travel advisors for their very best responses – and created a template to share with YOU!  I’m also diving into our sister company Aisle To Adventure, and how it helps planners like you make more per client, without adding cost to your client!  Enjoy!

This is a GREAT question. I appreciate the open dialogue concerning this topic.

Our planning service fees cover our time spent curating the perfect wedding day for you and your guests.

Commission is a small percentage paid directly from the supplier as a thank you for the business we are providing.

We are not motivated by partners who pay the highest commission, but instead connect you with partners that are the best match for you, even when they do not offer commission.

Commission is not always paid in a timely fashion and is only delivered after completion of a trip. It’s similar to a corporate bonus, and does not cover the time we spend working with our clients to ensure a perfect experience for you and your guests.

Commissions are not money that you would otherwise recoup or be rebated but is instead profit the hotels would keep if the booking came in directly.

I hope this helps answer any questions you have, I truly want you to feel great about working with me from start to finish.

Cheers,

I’ve always been a fan of less is more. Less weddings on the book, higer quality bookings, bigger payouts – the dream right?!

12 years in, and I was still looking to push this concept forward in my wedding planning business. How could my team continue book less clients, but make more money without raising prices? That’s when it hit me.

We’d been leaving venue, hotel and honeymoon commission on the table with every client we had served for 12+ years. But, not anymore. And now, I want to extend that say payout to you!
