Why did you decide to open your venue?
We began as a small family catering business out of our house, run by my mother, with all five of her children (me included) as the haulers and dishwashers. She had wanted a place of her own as long as I can remember and one day catered a lunch for a couple that owned the property The Mill now sits on. She fell in love with the place and approached the couple asking to be considered if they ever decided to sell, and some time later they did just that! The venue was built from the ground up incorporating the existing structures (Miller’s Cottage, mill ruins and out buildings) and we try to improve upon the grounds and venue with new projects each year.
How many people does your event venue hold?
We can hold up to 225 guests for a buffet-style reception and up to 150 guests for a plated dinner.
What makes your venue unique?
By only holding one event per day, and giving exclusive use of the grounds and venue, we ensure a private and intimate wedding day for our couples set in our rural and peaceful countryside. We also implement all-inclusive pricing in terms of venue rental taking the worry and concern off of our couples’ plates and allowing them to focus on the important parts of the day.
Best piece of planning advice to a new bride
Focus on what’s important: you’re marrying the love of your life on your wedding day! Attention to detail is great, but don’t let it ruin your day by distracting you from what the day is really about. Be happy, relax and let loose!
What is your ideal couple like?
A couple that understands that some things are out of your control and you just have to take it in stride. A couple that focuses on the fact that no matter what the weather does, or what happens, you’re still going to be married at the end of the day. A couple that can sit back, breath (have a glass of champagne) and enjoy their day as much as they deserve to!
