We’re over the moon to be sharing some exciting news with you today, friends. Elena Balkcom has joined the Chancey Charm family as a Wedding Planner Mentor on our Planner Support Team! While it doesn’t quite take a village to support our 13 thriving wedding planning locations, it does take the help of some sweet + talented women who pour into our planners, serve them as they run their wedding planning location and support them with their industry expertise. Get to know Elena below (and follow along with her on Instagram). Cheers!

Why mentoring? What do you love about your role as a wedding planner mentor?
Let’s pretend there’s a fence that’s too tall for us to both see over. I want to be the person who gets down on hands and knees so my pal can see over the top. The thought of getting to be a boost for others gives me the good kind of butterflies. You can catch me bustin’ out the pom-poms and cheering for these amazing women doing what they are so gifted to do.
What do you love about your city?
Oh, you haven’t been to Milledgeville? The total population of our town is only half the total number of students that attend the University of Georgia in our neighboring town of Athens, but let me paint a picture for you: my college sweetheart and I live a block from the campus where we met. I just opened my laptop in the local coffee shop, which I traveled to via an evening stroll past street corner musicians and the best little brunch place on earth. I just don’t know why people don’t come from across the world to slow down in Milledgeville. We have something here that the locals call “sunset fields”. Come on. Who wouldn’t love this place.
What’s your favorite Sunday afternoon activity?
Sundays are my days to restore and reset my space, so I actually like doing laundry and dishes on Sundays *nobody tell my husband that*. Speaking of him, I love going on Sunday drives together. We have better talks in the car, so sometimes we’ll drive around town just to chat. It’s sweet. And free, y’all!

Do you have any pets?
Nope, we live in a tiny home, so if we added a living thing to our house, somebody’s sleeping outside.
Best first dance song?
I would probably weep a little if a bride and groom chose something classical and waltzed around the room.
A long weekend includes…
A daycation with my pal to a city that’s in driving distance, best if we can find a restaurant or food we’ve never tried and some good local shopping or something outdoorsy. Weekends upcoming are full of women’s ministry events with the college ministry I get the privilege to be involved with occasionally.

Emily P. Freeman is my favorite author. What a gal. Her weekly podcast is also, you know, LIFE changing.
Best place for a dessert…
Seriously the ice cream aisle of Kroger, then directly to the couch.
Why Chancey Charm?
Chancey Charm sets the tone in the wedding industry. I’m honored to be on a team with leaders and difference-makers and I am thankful for the impact for good that Chancey Charm has had on planners, couples and countless clients around the country. Chancey Charm was encouraging me via social media long before I joined the team as a wedding planner mentor. That’s just the kind of place Chancey Charm is: a resource.
