Q:  How far in advance should I pop the bridesmaids (or groomsmen) question?

A: This all depends on how specific you are with bridesmaids dresses. Most made-to-order bridesmaids dresses can take 4 to 6 weeks in production. Plus, you need to allow time to have them altered. Make sure you ask your bridesmaids with plenty of time to find the gowns, have them ordered, and altered to make sure your bridesmaids feel beautiful and confident. If you’re in a time crunch, try a ready-to-wear option like BHLDN’s bridesmaids dresses. – Chancey Charm Houston

Q:  What do I do if someone says no to being in the bridal party?

A: If someone says no, don’t take it personally. It was likely a tough decision for them to say no! Realize that they love you, but work, life, or financial constraints may not be something they can commit to at this time. Being in a wedding can be very expensive and take up a good amount of time! Consider offering them another role, such as a reader in the ceremony, or a helper the day-of the wedding or with wedding planning, like having them come along to help you pick out your gown. – Chancey Charm Boston

Q:  What if I have too many friends or family members who I want included in the bridal party?

A: If you want certain people at all the events, but don’t necessarily need them to wear the same dress or walk down the aisle, having a “house party” is a great way to include your friends and family without going overboard on the amount of people in your bridal party. Similar to the bridesmaids, members of a house party are usually given wedding day tasks (giving a reading at the ceremony, helping with the cake cutting, helping with photos or guest books, etc.). They also get to be included in the showers and bachelorette parties, which is really the biggest issue in having a big group of bridesmaids. – Chancey Charm Nashville

Q:  What are some fun ways to ask friends or family members to be in your bridal party?

A: For fun ways to ask, I always opt for sweets! You can get custom cookies made asking them, or include a little fortune in a fortune cookie. Or, even put a custom label on some rose. I’ve used custom labels saying, “He POPPED the question, so we can POP the champagne!” – Chancey Charm Nashville
